Reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment, community development and the promotion of sporting excellence, BankDhofar has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Oman Hockey Association to become the Title Sponsor of the Hockey Oman League 2026. The tournament, taking place from 1 to 11 November, brings together clubs and hockey centres from across the Sultanate of Oman in one of the country's leading domestic hockey competitions.

The agreement was signed by Amjad Iqbal Al Lawati, GM of Chief Corporate Services Officer at BankDhofar, and Dr. Marwan bin Juma Al Juma, Chairman of the Oman Hockey Association, in the presence of senior representatives of the Bank.

The sponsorship underscores BankDhofar's longstanding commitment to supporting initiatives that encourage active lifestyles, foster community engagement and create opportunities for young Omanis to develop their sporting potential. It also reflects the Bank's emphasis on forging meaningful partnerships with national institutions that contribute to the social and sporting development of the Sultanate.

The Hockey Oman League serves as an important platform for nurturing emerging talent, strengthening competition among domestic clubs and raising the overall standard of hockey in Oman. By bringing together established players and promising young athletes, the tournament provides valuable opportunities to hone technical skills, gain competitive experience and advance the development of the sport at the grassroots and national levels.

Commenting on the partnership, Amjad Iqbal Al Lawati said: "At BankDhofar, we recognise the transformative role of sports in empowering young people, instilling discipline and teamwork, and promoting healthier, more active communities. Our sponsorship of the Hockey Oman League 2026 reflects our commitment to supporting sporting excellence and creating opportunities for emerging talent to thrive. We are pleased to partner with the Oman Hockey Association in advancing the development of hockey and strengthening its appeal among younger generations."

Dr. Marwan bin Juma Al Juma, Chairman of the Oman Hockey Association, welcomed the partnership, stating: "We are delighted to have BankDhofar on board as the Title Sponsor of the Hockey Oman League 2026. This partnership represents an important boost to our efforts to strengthen domestic hockey competitions, support participating clubs and players, and create a sustainable pathway for developing future talent. The support of prominent national institutions such as BankDhofar is invaluable in helping us realise our ambitions for the continued growth of hockey in Oman."

With a history stretching back nearly 110 years, hockey holds a distinctive place in Oman's sporting heritage. Over the decades, the sport has built a strong following and established itself as an important part of the Sultanate's sporting landscape. Competitions such as the Hockey Oman League play a vital role in preserving this legacy while inspiring a new generation of players to take up the sport.

Through this latest partnership, BankDhofar further strengthens its contribution to community-oriented initiatives, particularly those focused on youth development, sports and social well-being. The sponsorship reflects the Bank's broader commitment to supporting national aspirations, nurturing Omani talent and making a positive, lasting impact on communities across the Sultanate.
